Arrival & Registration

When you arrive at the event please check in at Event Registration. Bring along some ID and the QR Code from your Order Confirmation email (you can show us on your phone – no need to print it out) and you’ll be given your badge for the weekend, as well as your programme and schedule.

The badge is your entry pass so please wear it at all times; without it you won’t be able to access the convention.

If you arrive after Registration closes, just keep your Order Confirmation email with you – you’ll still have access to the parties until Registration opens the next day, and the Order Confirmation email will act as your convention pass until you register.

Just head over where you bought your tickets and press the “resend tickets” button at the top right of the page.

It will send your tickets straight to you, but please make sure you check your spam folder if it doesn’t show up in your inbox.

Make sure you use the correct link for the ticket you bought. So if you need a Photo Session ticket re-sent, go to the link where you bought your Photo Session tickets. If you need a Fan Meet ticket re-sent go to the Fan Meet store, and if you need an entry ticket re-sent go to the main store.

We would also recommend you create a Leap Events account as this will show all of your orders, even if you ordered them before you created an account.

Photo ID is preferable, such as a passport, driving license, or other photo ID card. In exceptional circumstances we may accept other forms of ID such as a bank card.

The Event Registration Desk will be open:

  • Friday: 4pm until 8pm
  • Saturday: 9am until 5pm
  • Sunday: 9am until 4pm

Autograph Sessions

Autograph Sessions take place across both Saturday and Sunday, so you will need to be at the event for both of those days in order to ensure your ticket number is called for all autographs.

We fully understand how important it is for all our attendees to get an autograph, and we will do our best to make sure that you get all your autographs, however we cannot guarantee that all attendees will get one in the event of exceptional circumstances arising, for example a guest becoming ill.

At most events you will get some autographs on Saturday, and the others on Sunday. Attendees will be called up to each Autograph Session by their badge number, starting with Gold Ticket holders, and followed by Regular Ticket holders. At larger events we may vary the order we call people up to help with scheduling.

There will be announcements regarding which tickets numbers have been called, so please don’t queue up until your ticket number has been called.

Once your number has been called you must go to the Autograph Session immediately. You will not be let in if you arrive once the next set of numbers have been called, or if you try to get in on a different day.

If you cannot be at the event for the entire weekend let a member of our staff know at the Autograph Session and they will do their best to get you through on one day, but this cannot be guaranteed.

No. Our guests only have a couple of hours each day in the Autograph Sessions, and we want to make sure no one misses out, so we can’t use up any extra time by allowing photos or selfies.

If you want your photo taken with the guests we have dedicated Photo Sessions.

We will have a selection of 10×8 photos of the guests available to be purchased for additional autographs, as well as vouchers (known as Badgers) to get extra personal items signed. Usually you may buy up to four additional autographs per guest, in the form of either 10×8 photos or Badgers. Please note we do not have the facilities to take card payments, so ensure you bring enough cash with you to buy your extra autographs.

The price will vary for each guest, but usually range from £20 upwards per guest. Exact prices will be in the schedule given to you when you arrive at Registration.

We do reserve the right to change the number of items permitted to be signed without prior notice in order to maximise the number of attendees that get autographs.

No, we don’t offer any sort of autograph ordering service.

At our events we give every single attendee the opportunity to get autographs from all the guests, unless something unexpected happens like they fall ill. We don’t have time to offer a autograph ordering service as our guests spend all their autograph time signing for attendees in person.

The Autograph Sessions allow attendees the opportunity to get an item signed by each of the guests in person.

Although you do meet the guests when getting your autograph, it is not a Meet & Greet experience. The autograph is very fast and although you do get to say “hi” when you get to the guest, and “thank you” when you leave, there is no time for any further conversation or questions.

The best time to talk to the guests is during the Q&As, where you can queue to ask the guests a question directly, in the Fan Meets, or in the Meet & Greet for Gold Ticket holders.

A personal item is an item of your own that you bring to get signed.

If your personal item is related to a TV show or movie that the guest has been in, it must be an officially licensed item (purchased from an official source, showing the show logo and the relevant copyright). For example this means you cannot bring your own screen grabs, images you have downloaded from the internet, or unlicensed art prints, as you do not have the permission of the copyright holder. 

Popular items that people use for their personal item include:

  • DVDs / Blu-Rays
  • Comics
  • Books
  • Posters
  • Magazines
  • Autograph Books
  • The A5 convention booklet which is given to you for free at Registration
  • Fan art done by yourself (purchased art is not permitted)

The actors reserve the right to refuse to sign certain items, and will not sign body parts or live blades.

The 10x8s will not be available for purchase separately.

Autograph Cards are given out for most events and this is what tells our staff which guests you have already seen in the Autograph Session.

If you are given an Autograph Card this will be ticked off for each guest once you have obtained their autograph. Do not lose this card as it cannot be replaced, and without it you will not be able to get any autographs.

At smaller events we may not give out Autograph Cards.

The type of guest relates to their free autograph allocation.

Regular Guests
Regular Ticket and Gold Ticket holders may get one item of their own (known as a personal item) signed for free by Regular Guests.

Bonus Guests
Regular Ticket holders must purchase autographs from Bonus Guests at the event. There are no free autographs.

Gold Ticket holders may get one item of their own (known as a personal item) signed for free by Bonus Guests.

Extra Guests
Regular and Gold Ticket holders must purchase autographs from Extra Guests at the event. There are no free autographs.

Occasionally the Autograph Sessions may take place at different times, for example if a guest has to leave early.

Camera & Phone Policy

Phones
Mobile phones are allowed on in the Main Hall as long as they are on silent or in flight mode. Please try not to draw attention to the fact that you are using your phone so it doesn’t distract the guests or attendees around you.

Mobile phones must be either on flight mode or on silent when in the Main Hall, Meet & Greet, Photo Sessions, Fan Meets, or Autograph Sessions.

Photography
Flash photography is allowed during the Guest Talks for the first five minutes. After that photography is still allowed, but without flash only.

Photographs are not permitted of the guests other than when they are on stage. This includes in the Photo Session, Autograph Sessions, Fan Meets, and Meet & Greet. Cameras are not allowed into the evening parties to respect the privacy of the guests and other attendees whilst at the parties.

Videography & Recording
Some of the guests have put it in their contracts that they do not want people to record the event, both in video and audio formats, and as a result we will not be allowing recording to take place anywhere the guests are. This includes Q&As, Photo Session, Autograph Sessions, Fan Meets, and Meet & Greet.

The event and all guest talks are copyright to Starfury Conventions. Any attempt to record the event is illegal and a breach of copyright. Any attendees caught recording the guest talks will have their equipment temporarily confiscated, and will also be ejected from the event without refund.

Starfury do photograph and video aspects of the event. By purchasing anything on our website you give you explicit permission to have any photos or videos taken at the event to be saved by Starfury and published on our website or social media accounts. The event and all guest talks are copyright to Starfury Conventions.

Costume Competition

Not at all!

Cosplay is a very important and popular part of any Starfury event, and we encourage people to dress up for the parties even if they don’t want to enter the Costume Competition.

We set party themes each night to give you a little inspiration, but you don’t have to stick to these themes.

If you’d like to take part in the Costume Competition, let them know at the Registration Desk before 4:00pm on Saturday.

On the Saturday evening of most events we’ll be having a Costume Competition. A chance for fame and kudos for all cosplayers. Some of the guests will act as judges, awarding prizes to those whose efforts they deem to be the best. Whether a participant or viewer, this is always the highlight of any event and lots of fun.

There are no themes for this, but it gives you the chance to show off your creative side! No live bladed weapons are permitted.

Entry Tickets

Yes! Our venues can only hold a limited number of attendees, so all tickets are limited.

Our most limited ticket is the Gold Ticket. In order to ensure the guests can visit every table at the Meet & Greet we can only have a very small number of Gold Tickets.

Anyone aged 12 or older must purchase a Gold or Regular Ticket to enter the event.

If you have a child under the age of 12 you can request an Under 12 Ticket. Children age 12 and under are free but are not entitled to any autographs unless they purchase a Gold or Regular Ticket. Children can NOT enter the Meet & Greet unless they purchase a Gold Ticket.

To request an Under 12 Ticket:

  • Log in to our online store using the same email address you used to purchase your Gold or Regular Ticket
  • Once you are logged in, select View All Orders
  • Look for the event called Starfury Conventions, and select Order Additional Tickets to be returned back to the ticket page now you are logged in
  • Select the event from the menu on the left, and you should now see the Under 12 Ticket option available for you to select
  • If you are unable to see the Under 12 Ticket then you are either not logged in, or are logged in with a different email address than you used to purchase your event tickets

We only offer tickets that give you access to the event for the entire weekend, but you can come for as much or as little as you would like.

If you can’t make it for the whole weekend please be aware that there are some things you will miss, and sometimes we do have guests that are only appearing for one day.

Photo Sessions are on both Saturday and Sunday, but sometimes guests only do solo photos on one day and duo/combos with other guests on the other day.

At most events you will get some autographs on Saturday, and the others on Sunday. If you cannot be at the event for the entire weekend let a member of our staff know at the Autograph Session and they will do their best to get you through on one day, but this cannot be guaranteed.

Guests will take part in one Q&A on each day they are there, though they may be on stage with others.

If any Gold Tickets are still available for the event then you can upgrade your Regular Ticket by following the below steps:

  • Click the link to View Your Order Online from your “Starfury Conventions Order Confirmation” email
  • Select the green Upgrade button
  • Choose the upgrade you would like to make on the left, and go through the checkout process

You will only be asked to pay the difference in price between the Regular and Gold Ticket. Once confirmed your Regular Ticket will be cancelled and only the Gold Ticket will be valid.

Please be aware we cannot guarantee the availability of any upgrades as they are extremely limited.

We’re a little different to the majority of events, and our tickets also include a number of autographs, as well as all Q&A sessions, parties, and much more!

All tickets give you access to the event for the entire weekend, and the experience is quite unique and relaxed as there are far less tickets available than the usual ‘comic con’.

With Startury you don’t have to choose which part of the event to see and which to miss. No Q&As will ever clash with each other. We also do our best to never put on Photo Sessions at the same time as Q&As, and it’s only very rarely that Autograph Sessions will happen at the same time as something else.

Unlike most other events you don’t have to stand in line for hours hoping you might get some autographs. We give every single attendee the opportunity to get autographs from all the guests, unless something unexpected happens like they fall ill.

Fan Meets

Autographs and photographs of the guests are not allowed in the Fan Meets, and please do not give gifts. Audio and video recording are also not permitted.

Guest appearances are subject to their professional availability, and may change at short notice. In the event of a cancellation we will do our best to secure a replacement.

Most guests will accept gifts, however unfortunately attendees cannot give them directly to the guests. This is to ensure that everyone has time to get their autographs, photos, and equal time to talk to the guests in the Fan Meets and Meet & Greet.

We will have a gift station set up near the Registration Desk where you can leave your gifts. Please remember to clearly write which guest your gift is for, and include your own name so the guest knows who it’s from.

Guests have to take flights so we advise you do not leave liquids, large, or fragile items.

Please drop off any gifts before 3pm each day to ensure we have enough time to get all the gifts to the guests.

Main Hall

For the majority of Q&A Sessions there will be a microphone available for the audience to ask questions directly to the guest.

Occasionally we may have to moderate some of the Q&A Sessions.

Please do not bring glass into the Main Hall during the day. Snacks and drinks are allowed, but please, no three course meals. Also we ask that you please tidy your rubbish away after you.

Due to restrictions from the venues, any alcohol must be purchased from the hotel bar. You cannot bring your own alcohol.

The guests are free to attend the parties if they wish, and as Starfury is such a relaxed environment it is quite common for some of the guests to show up at the parties.

If the guests do decide to come to the party in the evenings please respect that they are there to relax and enjoy themselves too. Please do not ask for autographs/photos, or try to take photos of them during this time. Respect their personal space just like you would anyone else.

During the Q&A Sessions the first few rows of seats are reserved for Gold Ticket holders, followed by off duty volunteer stewards.

With prior arrangement we can also seating set aside for wheelchair users and other attendees with mobility issues. Please view our accessibility page for more information on how to request this.

If there is room we will also reserve seating in the Opening and Closing Ceremonies for Gold Ticket holders – look out for the signs on the tables.

Seating for Regular Ticket holders is first come, first served.

Please do not leave coats or bags ‘holding’ your seat if you are leaving the hall (unless you’re going to the toilet) – any unattended bags or items may be removed for security purposes.

These events aren’t just about seeing the actors and getting photos and autographs. We try to create a dynamic social environment for fellow fans to get to know each other, so on each night of the event we’ll be holding a party for you to let you hair down, have some fun, and party with fellow fans.

We’ll be hosting a themed party each night. Dressing up isn’t compulsory, just come as you feel comfortable, and the themes are only there for fun.

Over the weekend all guests will be taking part in one or more Q&A Sessions. This will give you the opportunity to ask that question you’ve always wanted, live and in person!

Occasionally we have to moderate some Q&A Sessions.

Q&A Sessions usually take place on Saturday and Sunday, beginning around lunchtime. The exact time will be shown on the schedule you receive at Registration.

The Closing Ceremony will be on Sunday afternoon or evening. The approximate time will be confirmed at the event.

All guests who are appearing on Sunday will be at the Closing Ceremony, unless they have had to leave early.

All guests who are at the event on Friday will attend the Opening Ceremony.

Meet & Greet

Autographs and photographs of the guests are not allowed in the Meet & Greet. Audio and video recording are also not permitted.

Anyone found breaking these rules will be ejected from the Meet & Greet without refund.

Please make sure all your friends are in the queue with you if you want to sit together. We’ll fill up the room table by table and we don’t leave any empty spaces anywhere, so if your friends aren’t in the queue with you they will be seated elsewhere.

Photo Collection

When collecting your photo please bring your Collection Batch number.

This will be written on your Photo Session ticket as you get your photo taken. If you lose this you will not be able to collect your photo until 3.50pm that day.

Unlike some other events we do not print our photos instantly.

Instant printing requires images to be a lower resolution, and we pride ourselves in high quality prints. In order to maintain such a high quality print we cannot offer instant printing.

Instant printing also requires software and hardware which will increase the cost of the Photo Sessions. At Starfury we try to keep costs as low as possible for the attendees, and this means you may have to wait a few hours before you can collect your photo.

Photo Session Digital Downloads

Visit our digital download site approximately two weeks after the event.

Images are password protected so only those who attended the event can access them. Please respect other attendees’ privacy and don’t share this password with people who have not been to the event. The password can be found in the black and white schedule you receive at Event Registration.

If you lose the password, email info@starfury.co.uk with your event ticket number to be sent the password again.

Although it may seem obvious, it’s worth noting that you have to buy a Photo Session ticket, and then have the photo taken, in order for you to be able to buy the digital copy.

Please note we do not guarantee digitals will be available, for example in the event of a hardware failure, but normally they are.

Whether your photo is missing, you’ve lost the password, your download isn’t working, or anything else – just head over to the FAQs on our digital download site.

If the FAQs don’t have the answer, or if you’re still experiencing issues, get in touch.

Cosplay is welcome everywhere at our event, including in the Photo Sessions.

Please check on the day with a member of staff if you would like to use props in your photo or if you have a specific pose in mind, as each guest may have different rules. We cannot advise before the event if this will be possible as it will be decided on the day by the guest and their management.

Absolutely no prop guns are permitted, no matter their appearance.

If you have purchased your Photo Session ticket online in advance you can swap the day, or upgrade to a different photo featuring the same actor, any time before you collect your ticket at the event.

To do this click on the ‘View Your Order Online’ button in your order confirmation email, or access your order from your Leap Conventions account, then press the green ‘Swap’ or ‘Upgrade’ buttons next to the photo.

Once you have collected your ticket at the event, you cannot change the day.

You cannot exchange your photo ticket for a different actor at any time. The only exception to this is if the guest you purchased a photo with cancels.

In the event of a cancellation we will do our best to secure a replacement guest.

Anyone who has purchased Photo Sessions or Fan Meets for guest who has cancelled will be given the opportunity to swap this for another guest of the same value, or pay the difference to upgrade to a different guest. If a swap or upgrade is not wanted then a refund will be given before the event. Refunds are only issued to the card used to make the original purchase.

To do this click on the ‘View Your Order Online’ button in your order confirmation email, or access your order from your Leap Conventions account, then press the green ‘Swap’ or ‘Upgrade’ buttons next to the photo.

Swapping will allow you to change it to another guest of the same value. Upgrading allows you to change it to a more expensive guest and pay the difference.

Event tickets will NOT be refunded in the event of a guest cancellation.

Just head over where you bought your tickets and press the “resend tickets” button at the top right of the page.

It will send your tickets straight to you, but please make sure you check your spam folder if it doesn’t show up in your inbox.

Make sure you use the correct link for the ticket you bought. So if you need a Photo Session ticket re-sent, go to the link where you bought your Photo Session tickets. If you need a Fan Meet ticket re-sent go to the Fan Meet store, and if you need an entry ticket re-sent go to the main store.

We would also recommend you create a Leap Events account as this will show all of your orders, even if you ordered them before you created an account.

We do our best to spot situations where photos may not come out perfect (such as blinking, talking, hair over face, clothing, reflection in glasses, etc), but as the Photo Sessions are very fast moving we cannot guarantee it. 

If you or the guest are blinking, or if there is any other issue with your photo, please let us know as soon as you collect it.

Photo Sessions give you opportunity to have your picture taken with the guests by a professional photographer in our studio, with a backdrop and professional lighting.

The pictures will be developed as a high quality 10×8 photo on industrial dye-sublimation photo printers, and available for collection later in the day.

Although you do meet the guests when having your photo taken, it is not a Meet & Greet experience. The photo is very fast and although you do get to say “hi” when you walk in for your photo, and “thank you” when you leave, there is no time for any further conversation or questions.

The best time to talk to the guests is during the Q&As, where you can queue to ask the guests a question directly, in the Fan Meets, or in the Meet & Greet for Gold Ticket holders.

Photo Session tickets can be purchased from our Buy Tickets page. Tickets may not be available until the guest list is closer to being finalised, so keep checking back if your event is not showing on that page.

We recommend you purchase these ASAP as they will not be available at the event, and they can sell out.

Stewarding / Volunteering

Volunteers must hold a valid ticket to the event.

To enable us to run a smooth convention we need all the help that we can get. Stewarding is a vital part to any event. If you are willing, we need people who will give up a short amount of time each day to help us out.

You will receive an email prior to the event with an invitation to steward. This is via a Google Form so that you can select your preferences to make sure that you don’t miss anything you want to do.

If you don’t receive the email, just contact us at stewards@starfury.co.uk.

If you have signed up to help out, firstly, thank you! Your help is greatly appreciated!

Please ‘sign in’ with the Head Steward as soon as you can so we know you’re at the event and can give you your lanyard. Just ask at the Registration Desk where the Stewards Desk is.

If you don’t let us know you’re here we will assume you’re either unable to attend or have changed your mind about stewarding, so we will need to re-arrange duties to make sure everything is covered – this can sometimes prove to be difficult, especially if we’re short on stewards.

  • Seating in the first few rows in the Main Hall, behind the Gold Ticket holders and disabled attendees
  • Queue jumping for the Photo and Autograph Sessions whilst you are on duty
  • Usually reserved tables in the Main Hall for the Closing Ceremony
  • Tons of new friends for life as everyone gravitates towards the stewards
  • Your stewarding duties are scheduled around you, so you won’t miss any part of the event
  • An exclusive thank you photo of the guests…

You will be asked to help for about 6 hours over the weekend. This will most likely be split into a couple of hours each day or three hours over a couple of days.

It’s really easy, so don’t worry. You’ll get details on what to do, and have plenty of staff around who can help out if you have any questions.

Example duties are:

  • Main Hall: Check IDs of those entering the hall and ensuring no one is recording the guest talks
  • Photo Session: Queue control and ensuring those entering the room hold tickets for the session
  • Autograph Session: Ensuring items are appropriate to be signed and ensuring those entering the room have had their number called
  • And much more! This is just a taster of things to come…
